The Carnegie restoration is intended to complement the North Harbor’s plan , which includes redevelopment of new housing and retail within the neighborhood. The initial stage began and includes the addition of one hundred new houses. The Carnegie restoration is also projected to spur property rehabilitation in neighborhoods surrounding the facility. East Chicago’s comprehensive improvement plan, which is currently underway, also includes new streets, sidewalks, lighting and sewers for the North Harbor Project. These renovations signal the city’s commitment to revitalize the entire North Harbor neighborhood and the city as a whole.
The building is still under renovation and we hope to share pictures of it’s progress on this site. If you want to get involved, help out, have questions or suggestions, drop us an e-mail and thank you for you time spent here at Carnegie Arts Center – online.
